Listening to the voice of young people

Why should you join?

Hosted by Alex Atherton, former Headteacher and Leadership Coach, this online discussion will give space to a panel of young people to speak about the importance and value of students being listened to in schools and beyond.

 

Students

This session will focus on:

  • What it means to listen to the voice of young people
  • The benefits to mental health and wellbeing
  • The wider benefits to schools and young people

Alex Atherton

Alex will be hosting this event. He is an experienced educator, executive coach and leadership team coach. He worked in education for 25 years, over half of which was spent as a secondary school headteacher in large inner-London comprehensives. On appointment he was the youngest secondary school head in the country. He has also led a pupil referral unit, and has worked with both primary schools and further education.

He now runs a leadership consultancy which supports individual clients and executive teams from a range of industries. He focuses on Generation Z and is helping his clients think differently and listen to young voices.

Jade Barnett

Jade is a Youth Development Lead for the Prince's Trust, a senior member ofthe Young People’s Action Group in the Mayor of London’s Violence Reduction Unit, an ambassador for Connected Futures, and a young advisor for The Diana Awards. Alongside her roles within the Youth Sector, Jade is a presenter/ speaker, DJ and CEO of ICE ‘NO’ TEA Podcast.
